MY ROLE AT MIDLAND NAZ
I see the role of the administrative assistant like a wheel. The admin is the hub and each of the other teams and departments are the spokes connecting to the hub that also connect to the body of believers attending the church. That wheel needs to keep turning smoothly so that the others can accomplish their goals efficiently. It takes focus on detail, organization and anticipating needs. When that is happening, the wheel keeps turning and everyone is moving forward and the work of the church and the Lord is accomplished! In other words, my goal is to provide whatever support the other members of the team need allowing them to accomplish their goals. We’re all just cogs in a wheel!
IF I HAD MY DREAM VACATION I'D
I have a couple. One would be a cruise of the Greek Islands! On the other hand, give me a cottage at the beach, either on a nice lake or the ocean, and I’d feel like I was in heaven!
IF I COULD DO A HOBBY FOR A LIVING I'D
do anything creative! I paint using watercolor and acrylics. I’m an independent Stampin’ Up Demonstrator teaching people rubber stamp art and paper crafting. I like to do DIY projects ranging from redoing old furniture to using my miter saw and drill to make vintage signs and other items from old wood. What I’ve found in doing all these things is that when a person is being creative, it brightens lives and provides a break from reality! It helps to de-stress. My dream would be to have a retreat with cottages at a lake where women could come to explore their creativity, discover their spiritual gifts and use that experience to renew and re energize their life and walk with the Lord.
MY FAVORITE TEAM TO CHEER FOR IS
Ok, here we go, this could make me the black sheep but I must confess – (cringe) I am not into sports!! There I said it! I know you must think I’m un-American! When my sons were in sports, I enjoyed going to their activities and being involved. I think what puts me off sports is how it seems to have become so all-important to people. That said – if I’m going to cheer for a team it would be the one that was losing….
MY FAVORITE MOVIE IS
I have a couple of favorites even though I’m not a big movie person. I love the Narnia films especially The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; The Blind Side; Fireproof; Courageous, and my New Year’s Eve favorite is to watch the 6 hour BBC version of the Pride and Prejudice mini-series!
MY FAVORITE BOOK IS
A mystery! A good mystery or suspense book, sitting outside on the porch in a good rocking chair in the summer is a great way to spend a couple of hours. That said, I can’t really choose a favorite. In addition to mystery/suspense, I also like good Christian motivational and inspirational books. Preferably a Christian mystery but do like John Grisham and few others in the secular categories. Something else I like to read is the Old Testament. The accounts of the men and women really speak to me as examples and testimonies for me today. I find them very encouraging and inspiring!
MY MOST REWARDING VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY IS
Anything where I can share my creativity and use it to encourage others whether it be in a ladies group at church, women’s shelter or youth mission team. I love to see people’s faces as they get excited and see they can do something they didn’t think they could! The best part, when they give it to the person they made it for and that person appreciates it.
I have two sons, Nathan and Eric. They are very dear to me. Both recently married and chose wonderful women. I fully believe they are answers to my prayers. Nathan is married to Charity and she had two children so I inherited grand-children with their marriage. Aaron and Anna. Aaron is in Boy Scouts and Anna loves basketball and art. Nathan drives those big trucks for Fischer Contracting helping build and repair roads. Charity is the manager for Isabella Recycling Center in Mt. Pleasant. Eric is married to Taylor and they’re big cyclists. Eric is the General Manager at Pizza Hut here in Midland. Taylor is the manager of Ray’s Bike Shop in Clare. No grand-babies yet! I love my family and praise the Lord for His work in their lives!
I graduated from Sanford Meridian High School, let’s just say a long time ago! Went to Central Michigan University for about a year and half. Not really knowing what I wanted to do and, since I was paying my own way, I decided to drop out and find a job to figure out what I wanted in a career. Since then I’ve lived in New York City, St. Louis, Missouri, California, and Texas. Growing up, my grandmother made sure we went to church. I learned all the rules and believed I was a Christian. After traveling some rough roads in my life, I came to realize I was only a “church goer” and learned what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus and my life just keeps getting better!!
